Gary O`Donovan opens Cork Wine School

Gary O`Donovan  has opened the Cork Wine School to provide wine education classes for the people in the south of the country. With last Summer’s unfortunate closing of the Wine Board of Ireland - the sole provider of WSET (Wine & Spirit Education Trust)-accredited courses in Ireland - a void has appeared in the provision of wine education in Ireland, says Gary. The Cork Wine School has now been set up to provide people based in the south of the country with a means by which to learn about - and further their enjoyment of - the world of wine.

With over 15 years’ experience lecturing for the Wine Board of Ireland, Gary’s a member of the Champagne Academy and brings a wealth of knowledge of the wine industry through his wine-tasting skills and expertise.


The Cork Wine School begins running courses from this February. Initially three courses will be offered: Wine Appreciation, WSET Intermediate Certificate and WSET Advanced Certificate.  These are ideal for those in the hospitality industry looking to further their skills and are also great for people with a thirst for wine knowledge, he says.
